Passenger Ferry to Battle Island
The Transport Canada and Canadian Coast Guard approved MV Iceberg Hunter is contracted to provide passenger ferry service between Battle Island and Mary's Harbour during the mid June to mid Sept season.
NOTE: SCHEDULE CHANGE EFFECTIVE 2012 SEASON
The ferry service leaves the Visitor Information Centre(VIC) and Ferry Terminal, Grenfell Mission wharf, Main Street, Mary's Harbour at 11:00am and 5:15PM ( IE not 6PM)daily. This 1.25 hour narrated boat trip to returns from Battle Harbour at 4:00pm and 9:00am daily.
From time to time high winds may delay sailings and the voice mail message at the VIC in Mary's Harbour (709-921-6325) is kept up to date with any changes in ferry departure times.
2011 round trip ferry passage fares, for individual travellers, excluding taxes, are $60.00 for adults, $55.00 for seniors (65 and over), and $30.00 for children (6 to 16) children 5 and under free. Family Rates also available for those who share the same permanent mailing address. Group rates are also offered for university and other students travelling with one or more instructor.
Round trip ferry passage fees are collected at the General Store on Battle Island and HST is collected.
Reservations are not required for the passenger ferry but guests are encouraged to arrive at the Mary's Harbour ferry dock at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. The VIC is on Main Street, on the opposite side of the road just past the RCMP Detachment building in Mary's Harbour. A private parking lot is provided for day trippers and overnight guests.
Well behaved pets on leashes are welcome aboard but owners are asked to please respect other travellers as some are afraid of, or allergic to, animals. Picking up after your pet is a must both on the boat and everwhere else used by others.
Visitors are encouraged to call 709-921-6216 (Battle Island mid June to mid Sept only) or 709-921-6325(Mary's Harbour VIC, year round) on the day they plan to leave Mary's Harbour to make sure that there are no weather related delays in the passenger ferry schedule.
Please note that Battle Harbour's site admission fees plus all other charges associated with either your day trip or overnight stay on Battle Island are collected at the General Store at Battle Harbour.
