The provincial government subsidizes auto and passenger ferry travel to numerous rural ports in Newfoundland and Labrador. Two ships owned by Labrador Marine Inc, the MV Appollo and the MV Sir Robert Bond, serve ports that provide access via car to Route 510.. the Labrador Coastal Drive from which you take the Mary's Harbour exit and drive to the Battle Harbour Visitor Information Centre & Ferry Terminal.

QC docking port for the MV Appollo from St. Barbe,NL or Sir Robert Bond's docking port at Cartwright, NL to the Battle Harbour ferry see http://www.stats.gov.nl.ca/DataTools/RoadDB/Distance/. This provincial government maintained "driving database" is helpful in estimating driving times at posted speedlimits between most communities in Newfoundland and Labrador. Information is available for both "miles per hour" and "kilometers per hour" as well as in miles and kilometers.
Please note that the time zones used for posted schedules of departure and arrival times for each of the MV Appollo, MV Sir Robert Bond and the passenger ferry between Marys' Harbour and Battle Island are all in Newfoundland Standard Time (NST).
