Accommodations at Battle Harbour
Stay overnight in one of six restored buildings and experience the ambience of a life-style long past surrounding by period furnishings and fixtures. Groups of up to 35 can be accommodated for workshops, retreats or meeting purposes at special rates. Children under 12 who share the same room as their parents can stay for free. For guests arriving and departing via Battle Harbour's passenger ferry, check in times are coordinated with the ferry schedule. Check in time for guest rooms is 12 noon with check out at 9am. Secure storage for guests' luggage is available.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered from a set menu of hearty favourites and served family-style. Fresh produce from Battle Harbour's organic kitchen garden is used in season and special diets can be accommodated with advance notice when room reservations are confirmed. Beer from our province's largest microbrewery, Quidi Vidi Brewing, is sold in our General Store along with a limited selection of wines and spirits.

Well behaved pets are welcome to stay with their owners in our two pet friendly units at Battle Harbour - the Spearing House and the Issac Smith. Other Newfoundland accomodations that promote themselves as being pet friendly can be found at

The Battle Harbour Inn
The Battle Harbour Inn is scenically located on a hill overlooking the merchant premises and Great Caribou Island. Once providing accommodation for the resident merchant and agents, this charming island haven is fully restored & renovated and cozily furnished with antiques.
The Inn features five room on the second floor - four spacious double rooms and one single room. All room share a three pieced bathroom. Downstairs includes a fully equiped kitchen, a dinning room and sitting room heated by an oil stove. The glassed-in porch is a wonderful spot to sit and view sunsets and is the perfect vantage points for relaxing and taking in the beauty of the island and its setting. Breakfast is included with room prices.

The Grenfell Cottage
The Grenfell Cottage is beautifully situated with an excellent view of the harbour. The Cottage includes one bedroom with a double bed on the ground floor and two bedrooms plus an alcove nook on the scond floor. The alcove nook has two single beds and is popular with children. The other second floor bedrooms each have one double and one single bed. The Grenfell Cottage is equipped with a full kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room, parlor and "loo with a view" -a three piece bathroom with a claw-foot tub. The sun porch and veranda offer an ideal spot to gaze at the magnificent ocean view.

Issac Smith House (larger version)
The Issac Smith House
The Issac Smith House is the oldest private residence on Battle Harbour Island. A night in the historic cottage will transport you back in time. This cottage includes three bedrooms; a ground floor room with a double bed and two bedrooms upstairs with two single beds in each room. Keeping with traditional lifestyle, the Issac Smith Cottage is lit by oil lamp and heated by wood (supplied). However, for your convenience we have incorporated hot water and full bathroom facilities, complete with a clawfoot tub, into this home This house is also pet friendly but only rented as a unit. Ceilings are low and anyone over 5ft 10in tall will have to keep ducking their heads!

Spearing Cottage (larger version)
The Spearing Cottage
The Spearing Cottage was once located on Double Island and was used as the light keepers home. The Spearing Cottage is located away from the other cottages and is perfect for those who want a little extra privacy. The cottage includes two bedrooms on the second floor - one with a double bed and one with two single beds. It also offers a fully equiped kitchen, sitting room and a bathroom with sink, shower and toilet. Electricity is used for heat and light at this cottage. This house is pet friendly and is only available for rent as a unit.

The RCMP Detachment
Once the headquarters for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at Battle Harbour this house has two bedrooms on the first floor and two bedrooms on the ground floor. One second floor bedroom has one double bed while the other, a larger room, has one double and one twin/single bed. One of the ground floor bedrooms has two single beds and the other, the former jail cell, has one single bed. There is a full bathroom on the second floor and a half bath on the ground. This house is also equipped with a full kitchen, a dining room and living room and furnished to reflect its mid 1950s to late 1960s use as as home.

Deposits & Cancellation Policies
Deposits are not required at this time to confirm an overnight reservation at one of our heritage homes but Visa or Mastercard information is collected with complete contact information for all overnight guests.

48 hours notice of cancellation is requested and a minimum of $25 is retained to cover our booking administration costs for confirmed reservations.

We would be pleased to work with you to find a alternate dates to visit our island retreat in the Labrador Sea should you need to change plans after confirming a booking.
